The verb “to call<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

My name is<\/strong>…, your name<\/strong>is…, his name is<\/strong>…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In French, we call ourselves “soi-m\u00eame”, a reflexive turn of phrase. It’s not other people who call me that, it’s me!<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

1 – Most of the time, it’s with “have”.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

I read a book<\/p>\n\n

I watered the flowers<\/p>\n\n

When there is a COD (Direct Object Complement) it is to have : <\/p>\n\n

I<\/strong> walked the dog<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

I<\/strong> took the car<\/strong> out<\/p>\n\n

2 – In some cases, the auxiliary “to be” is used: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n
